Square Enix currently has two of the most eagerly awaited projects of the last decade currently under development – and at MAGIC 2017, we received a small taste of what to expect.
The developer released three images at the conference in Monaco; two of the Final Fantasy VII remake and one of Kimgdom Hearts 3.
The FF7 screenshots were telling in the sense that it gave us an idea of the direction they were heading in terms of the combat.
The first pic displays Cloud and Barret’s very first boss fight with the Guard Scorpion during the bombing mission at the first mako reactor.
As expected it looks very Final Fantasy XV but from the menu it looks as if the game will include materia, something diehard fans like myself would be grateful for.
The second image shows Cloud taking cover from what looks like a Shinra guard, perhaps recovering his health akin to Noct’s ability in FFXV.
Whether fan’s will take kindly to the apparent evolution in the combat remains to be seen.
Kingdom Hearts 3
The image from Kingdom Hearts 3 shows Sora battling against a new type of Heartless in Thebes.
It reveals one of the apparently many transformations of the keyblade. Here it functions as a shield but other uses include a chariot, called the power form.
Last month, game director Tetsuya Nomura gave an update on both games and said they “still have a way to go” before either is ready for release.
